Neighbors Helping Neighbors

Summer Share-A-Bration!
Community Protestant Church (at the corner of Hawley St & Prairie Ave) in Mundelein will be hosting a super-sized donation drive to benefit local agencies that offer assistance to our neighbors in need. This year, along with our usual collection of non-perishable items to be divided between the Fremont and Libertyville Township Food Pantries, we wanted to EXPAND THE HOPE this year by expanding our donation drive to include supplies needed by local crisis support agencies who serve the unhoused, survivors of domestic abuse, pet rescue, and the local blood supply – all in one place!
How to Help:
We will be accepting donations for three local agencies, the township food pantries, and a blood drive on Saturday, August 30th, from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm. The first step is to check the list of needed items below:
| Neighbors Served | Agency | Detailed List/Registration | TL;DR |
| Food Insecure | Fremont/Libertyville Townships | Click Here | Non-perishable Food Items |
| Domestic Violence Survivors | Lake County Haven | Click Here | Paper Goods, Cleaning Supplies, Feminine Care |
| Shelter Animals | Reach Rescue, Inc. | Click Here | Dry Dog/Puppy Food, Frontline/Capstar Flea Med (small dog) |
| Unhoused | The Night Ministry | Click Here | NEW Underwear/Socks, Personal Care |
| Local Blood Supply | Versiti Blood Services | Schedule Your Appointment | Appointment required. $25 Visa eCard for each donor |
Procure and Prepare Your Donation
Anytime you go shopping between now and the Share-A-Bration event, keep these needs in mind and consider purchasing a little extra to donate to one or more of the above needs. If you’re planning to give items to more than one of the above collections, it would be helpful if you could bag them separately and label your donations, but it is not strictly necessary.
About the Blood Drive
Versiti Blood Services will have a self-contained bus on site and a nurse to administer the donation. Our goal for this drive is to reach 15 donors. Can you be one of them? Please schedule an appointment in advance at this link at the time that is most convenient for you. If you haven’t donated blood through Versiti before you may need to complete a brief online registration. In appreciation, each eligible donor will receive a $25 Visa eGift card from Versiti. Bring Donations to CPC on August 30th
Bring your donations in bags to Community Protestant Church on Saturday, August 30th between 8:30am and 1:00pm. A volunteer will remove them from your vehicle and you don’t even have to get out, unless you’ve signed up to donate blood, which we hope you will. If you want to donate goods, but are unavailable during the event, CPC will accept donations during office hours (M-Th, 9a-2p) starting on Monday, August 25. Call the church office at 847.566.4000 to make arrangements or ask further questions. Donations may also be brought to 9:30am worship on Sunday, Aug 31st.
Help Heal Far-Away Neighbors, Too
This Share-A-Bration is about helping bring hope to our local neighbors in crisis. But, with God’s help, little CPC in Mundelein has a reach far larger than anyone would have reason to believe. Now through the month of August, Community Protestant Church will be collecting a special offering to help relieve the victims of the severe storms in Texas, New Mexico, and others. All donations received through August 31 to this campaign will be matched dollar-for-dollar by the church’s mission fund, up to a total of $3,000 for this campaign.
