FAQ’s
Is your building handicap accessible?
Yes! We have an elevator located through the door to the left of our designated handicap parking section. Large print bulletins are also provided for those with challenged vision and headsets will be provided for those hard of hearing.
Will I be pressured to become a member?
While you will certainly receive a warm welcome, do not expect to be asked about becoming a member. We will never pressure anyone to become a member. That is a personal decision we leave to you. However, if you are interested in membership and what it entails, we would be happy to talk more with you about the process of becoming a member of our church. New member inquiry groups are held every two months after worship for those who are interested or have more questions about membership.
What can I expect at worship?
Our worship service begins at 9:30 AM and lasts approximately one hour. Our worship is traditional; with the singing of hymns, the passing of the peace, recitation of ancient creeds and prayers and Scripture readings. The focal point of the worship service is the sermon, where we hear the Word proclaimed and how it applies to our daily lives. There is also a “time with the children” portion of worship, where the youngsters of the church listen to their own version of the sermon assisting them in the formation of their faith. In addition, we have a time of sharing of joys and concerns where anyone who wishes can ask the congregation for their prayers for themselves, friends, family or any person, place or thing in need of prayer. After worship concludes we enjoy fellowship hour downstairs, with friendly conversation along with complimentary snacks and refreshments. This gives us time to connect with one another and strengthen our congregational family. We hope you’ll join us!
What should I wear?
Wear whatever you feel comfortable in! You will see a range of attire, from casual clothing to Sunday best. God does not care what you wear and neither do we!
Exactly who is welcome?
Our doors at Community Protestant Church are open to everyone. It is an unfortunate reality that many churches which claim to be open to all draw lines in the sand when it comes to, for example: unwed mothers, people who are LGBTQ, those who are divorced, those who are low income or people struggling with mental health conditions or addiction. At Community Protestant Church, we draw no such lines. Our church covenants (makes a sacred promise) “to love each other come what may” and “ be open and accepting of all who come, slow to take offense and always ready for forgiveness and reconciliation…” These are promises we intend to keep. Whoever you are and wherever you are on life’s journey, you are most certainly welcome here.
