One Church

We believe that the Church of Jesus Christ is one body with many expressions always striving toward the goal of Jesus’ prayer: “that they may all be one.” We work together toward this goal with our ecumenical partners that comprise the National Council of Churches USA, affirm with many of them the Apostles’ Creed, and use the New Revised Standard Version of the Bible for most scripture readings in worship.

As a congregation, we consider ourselves to be a small part of the global Church of Jesus working toward the same goal of a just world for all. CPC contributes to the work of Global Ministries to work in partnership with local churches around the world at their request with programs that provide support, relief, and, most importantly, relationships of mutual respect with Christians throughout the world.

We also work toward better knowledge and understanding of our neighbors of other faiths, including regular gatherings with Congregation Or Shalom in Vernon Hills and Islamic Foundation North of Libertyville in a spirit of love, appreciation, and hospitality.
